Hello all, I’m Ambrose Wilkinson. I’ve transferred to City College from Hunter College where I completed a B.A. in Creative Writing and Sociology. But that was a lifetime ago, so after trying different writing styles, learning the art of film photography, and vagabonding around Europe and the Americas I’ve returned to university to learn about Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science. I plan to eventually contribute to the Wearable Technology industry in a meaningful way (still ironing out the details of what that means). Although English is my only fluent language, I’ve dabbled in Spanish, German, and French and can hold simple conversations in each. I’ve found it difficult to write arguments devoid of ‘fluff’. I often add unnecessary details when the point has already been made. My favorite authors include Gabriel García Márquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude, Memories of My Melancholy Whores, Love in the Time of Cholera) and Jack Kerouac (On the Road). I find myself gaining new insights about the characters and myself each time I reread these authors. In 2019, after a family tragedy derailed a multi-year adventure, I set out from the UK to India by land. Hitchhiking through the Balkans and Turkey, I made my way to the Republic of Georgia, where Covid-19 halted my adventure further. I spent 6 months learning about the Georgian culture, drinking copious amounts of wine, and hiking through the Caucasus Mountains. I’m also a lover of fountain pens, particularly antique Parkers models as well as contemporary TWSBI and LAMY. I look forward to leaning to write for engineering with you!
